Madam Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Party Central Committee, newly elected VWU President
With unanimous approval from all attending delegates, the 11th Executive Committee Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union, 13th term, elected Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union, to the position of President of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 tenure.
This afternoon, November 6, 2024, the 11th Executive Committee Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union, 13th term, took place in Hanoi. The conference agenda included: the announcement of decisions and statements from the Politburo regarding personnel matters, the reorganization of the Executive Committee and the Presidium of the Central Committee, and the election of the President of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
The conference was attended by notable figures, including:
- Mr. Lê Minh Hưng, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Organization Commission;
- Madam Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation;
- Mr. Nguyễn Quang Dương, Party Central Committee Member and Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission;
- Mr. Phạm Tất Thắng, Party Central Committee Member and Standing Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission;
- Madam Hà Thị Nga, Party Central Committee Member, Secretary of the Tuyên Quang Provincial Party Committee, Former Secretary of the Party Delegation, and Former President of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
Also in attendance were representatives from various Party committees, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and members of the 13th Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 term.
Prior to the 11th Executive Committee Conference, the 8th Presidium Conference of the 13th Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union was convened to meticulously prepare the agenda, ensuring the successful fulfillment of the conference’s objectives.
Announcement of the Politburo’s Directive
The Politburo’s directive was formally announced, appointing Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, to the position of Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
During the conference, Comrade Nguyễn Quang Dương, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission, officially promulgated the Politburo’s resolutions and correspondence concerning personnel matters.
In accordance with Official Document No. 11866-CV/VPTW, dated October 25, 2024, issued by the Office of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo resolved to approve the reassignment of Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee. The decision entails her relinquishment of membership in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and her role as Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2020–2025 tenure. Subsequently, she was designated as Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 term and nominated for election as President of the Vietnam Women’s Union.
Additionally, under Decision No. 1638-QĐNS/TW, dated October 30, 2024, the Politburo officially reassigned and appointed Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến to the role of Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 term.
During the conference, Comrade Lê Minh Hưng, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Organization Commission, solemnly conferred the Politburo’s decision appointing Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến as Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 tenure.
Address by Comrade Lê Minh Hưng Assigning Responsibilities to the Newly Appointed Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Nguyễn Thị Tuyến
In his address, Comrade Lê Minh Hưng, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Organization Commission, acknowledged Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến’s exemplary performance across her extensive career in various roles. He emphasized that the Politburo has consistently regarded her as a highly capable cadre who has not only fulfilled her responsibilities with excellence but has also made substantial contributions to the collective achievements of the institutions and localities she has served.
Extending his congratulations on her new appointment, Comrade Lê Minh Hưng underscored the gravity of the responsibilities entrusted to her by the Politburo. He urged Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến to swiftly acclimate to her new role, leveraging her professional acumen, unique competencies, and accumulated experience to collaborate effectively with the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union. The mission, he emphasized, is to ensure the robust leadership and execution of the Union’s initiatives, meeting the increasingly complex and evolving demands of the present context.
Furthermore, Comrade Lê Minh Hưng called for alignment with the overarching national development goals as set forth by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat. He particularly emphasized adherence to the strategic directives outlined in recent speeches by General Secretary Tô Lâm, which advocate for a profound and comprehensive renewal of the Party’s leadership and governance framework. These directives also stress the imperative of combating corruption, waste, and other negative phenomena while identifying key drivers to elevate Vietnam to a new epoch of national growth and prosperity. A central element of this vision is the development of a streamlined and efficient organizational structure that ensures impactful governance and outcomes.
Election of Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến as President of the Vietnam Women’s Union
The 11th Executive Committee Conference of the 13th Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union convened to conduct elections for additional members of the Executive Committee, the Presidium, and the President of the Vietnam Women’s Union in a disciplined and procedurally compliant manner.
The election results reflected unanimous confidence, with 100% of the Central Committee members in attendance voting in favor of Comrade Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Women’s Union. She was officially elected to serve as a member of the Executive Committee, a member of the Presidium, and President of the Vietnam Women’s Union for the 2022–2027 term.
In her acceptance speech, the newly appointed Secretary of the Party Delegation and President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, expressed her deep honor and heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in her by the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary Tô Lâm, and the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union. She acknowledged the significant responsibility of her new role as the leader of such a vital organization.
Fully aware of the honor and the immense responsibility that accompany this position, President Nguyễn Thị Tuyến pledged to devote herself wholeheartedly to the mission, exemplify exemplary leadership, uphold the Party’s principles, and strictly adhere to the Union’s Charter. She committed to working closely with the leadership team and officials at all levels to ensure the successful achievement of the goals and objectives outlined in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Women Delegates.
President Nguyễn Thị Tuyến also underscored her determination to highlight the indispensable role of women in society, strengthen the Vietnam Women’s Union into a resilient and comprehensive organization, and foster innovation in its activities. She affirmed her dedication to making meaningful contributions to the successful implementation of the Party’s 13th Congress Resolution, ensuring that the Union continues to play a pivotal role in national development and societal progress.
The newly appointed President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, conveyed her aspiration for solidarity, mutual understanding, and unified collaboration among the leadership, officials, civil servants, public employees, and staff within the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union. She emphasized the critical importance of collective effort and shared commitment in enabling her to effectively fulfill her responsibilities. She expressed her determination to build upon the legacy of prior generations of Union leaders to further strengthen and elevate the organization. Her vision is to establish the Vietnam Women’s Union as a true second home for its members and women across the nation.
President Nguyễn Thị Tuyến also underscored the Union’s commitment to advancing the quality of female human resources, with an immediate focus on achieving the strategic goals and objectives of 2024. Concurrently, she emphasized the preparation and introduction of female leaders and Union officials to participate in the Party Executive Committees at all levels for the 2025–2030 term.
The conference also included a formal farewell to Comrade Hà Thị Nga, Member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Party Delegation, and former President of the Vietnam Women’s Union. Comrade Hà Thị Nga has been reassigned by the Politburo to the position of Secretary of the Tuyên Quang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020–2025 tenure.
