On the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi Capital City (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2013) and the 83rd anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union (20/10/1930 – 20/10/2013), the Women Publishing House and Vietnamese Women’s Museum (VWM) in coordination with Kim Đồng Publishing House, Trẻ (Young) Publishing House and Nhã Nam Culture & Media Company will jointly organize the “Autumn Book Festival 2013”. The event is to honour the reading culture and traditional cultural values of Vietnam and in response to the “Vietnam Family Year 2013” and create an interesting and significant play ground for book lovers. The “Autumn Book Festival 2013” will be a chance for the participating agencies to directly introduce new, interesting and valuable books to readers. It is expected that the event will attract crowds of readers and it will be an annual event to be held in Hanoi during this time in the following years.

The “Autumn Book Festival 2013” will introduce about 4000 book titles with more than 8000 copies, of different types: politics, culture, history, Vietnamese literature, foreign literature, economics, finance, foreign languages, universal knowledge, life skill education, sex education, healthcare, domestic science, childcare and education, pregnancy and childbirth, marriage and family, teenagers, children, etc. In addition to new book titles for women on the occasion of the Women’s Day Oct. 20 and for children, teenagers and students on the new school year, there will be some interactive activities with famous authors and prestigious translators in Vietnam and activities to introduce books aimed at disseminating knowledge, educating life skills to young people and cultivating human values and community sense… In the framework of the book festival, there will also be interesting and enjoyable recreation and entertainment programs and programs to encourage book reading for children. Along with book discounts, promotion and gifts, the book festival will also organize fund-raising and book donations to be presented to grassroots women’s bookshelves and community libraries, give insurance cards to disadvantaged girl students, etc.

The “Autumn Book Festival 2013” will be open from 8:00 am to 21:30 pm from October 10 to October 14, 2013 at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, 36 Lý Thường Kiệt St., Hanoi.
