In the framework of Singaporean President’s official State visit to Vietnam, on the morning of April 24th, 2012, Madam Mary Tan – Wife of H.E Tony Tan Keng Yam, Singaporean President, took a tour of the Vietnamese Women’s Museum. The Vice President of The Vietnam Women’s Union – Madam. Nguyen Thi Tuyet and the Vietnamese Women’s Museum’s Board of Directors gave the special guests a warm welcome.
After one – hour visiting the exhibition system, Madam Mary Tan friendly and open-heartedly raised a lot of questions while seeing each topic of the permanent exhibition. She expressed her surprise with the wedding custom and ritual of Vietnamese Women in marriage and giving birth parts. She also expressed her gratitude and admiration for the sacrification and pain of Vietnamese women in two resistance wars and their creativities in the costume, jewelry, lacquered teeth, and betel parts.
She shared her thoughts by leaving these comments about the museum: “It gives me great pleasure to visit your Vietnamese Women’s Museum. I congratulate the management team and staff for putting together a very interesting, meaningful, and educational exhibition that recognizes the many important contributions of the Vietnamese women to society and their country’s development.”
