The Program “Supporting Women in Business Start-ups” has generated positive results, thanks to effective program implementation of the Vietnam Women's Union. Women are encouraged to participate in programs to promote an entrepreneurial spirit among them.

Returning to her hometown to build a business producing Hanamilk organic milk, Tran Thi Thanh Thoan has provided a stable job for nearly 20 local residents. Each earns 3.5 to 6 million dong per month. Accessing a big market by selling specialized products is an arduous and challenging journey. “Slow but sure” is the key to success, said Ms. Thoan.

“Some people say I am weird and crazy to study and do research in the natural sciences because I did not take any courses or receive a degree in that field. Despite the naysayers, I fiercely pursued my passion. The success of my first product, “Versatile Organic Cleaning Product” has made me very proud. Moreover, it has also provided a chance to create jobs for marginalized local women,” said Trinh Thi Hong, an orphan who was raised by neighbors. Her extraordinary effort turned organic waste into money, proving that “nothing is beyond reach.”

A Teacher’s Passion for Innovative Agricultural Methods
With a passion for agriculture, teacher Phuong is very interested in planting. She always appreciates creative innovations in farming. She is now growing small cucumbers and tomatoes using a Japanese technique that has replaced the traditional farming method. The new technique uses organic ingredients such as eggs, milk powder, and molasses to make fertilizers. Using this fertilizer, revenue is six times higher than by planting with the old method. “Teachers can also begin start-ups and incorporate innovative techniques,” said Ms. Phuong.
Seedless Lemon Cooperative in Truong Long Commune, Phong Dien, Can Tho
Founded in 2015, the Seedless Lemon Cooperative aims to help local women have a stable
life. Nguyen Thi Hue, head of the cooperative, chose to grow seedless lemons
because they require a low initial investment, grow easily, and are
harvested annually. Incorporating new farming methods to
enhance the product’s quality, the cooperative
is now growing lemons under VietGAP standards. Twenty-five cooperative members have planted 15 hectares of lemons, creating a stable income for members.
